The Home Minister stated that among the newly created posts, 500 are for Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASP), 4,000 for Sub-Inspectors (SI – unarmed), and 10,000 for Constables.

He further informed that Bangladesh Police currently has a total of 218,554 posts. Of these, 207,745 are police posts, 8,047 are non-police posts, and 2,762 are outsourced non-police posts.

The Minister also mentioned that recruitment activities have commenced for 2,703 vacant constable posts since the government took office.

Meanwhile, in response to a question from Member of Parliament Hasnat Abdullah, the Home Minister stated that during the tenure of the current government, 464 murder cases and 666 rape cases have been filed nationwide. In these cases, 604 individuals have been arrested in connection with murders and 530 in connection with rapes.

He reported that among those arrested, 11 defendants in murder cases and 71 in rape cases have been released on bail.
